Fire Ass Thai / Sweet Chilli Kitchen Melbourne Review

So today for lunch, a new place I’d never heard of with a funny name really stood out to me on UberEats – Fire Ass Thai. I checked it out and it had some good specials. As a member of UberPass, I get free delivery if I spend over $20, so today I ordered two meals so that I can eat half today and half tomorrow.

Fire Ass Thai Levels of Spice

The fun level names for each level of spiciness, as well as the strange product descriptions really made me want to try this place.

Level 1 – Neutrality (No Spice)

Level 2 – Courage (Mild)

Level 3 – Willingness (Medium)

Level 4 – Acceptance (Spicy)

Level 5 – Joy (2x Spicy)

Level 6 – Peace (3x Spicy)
+$1.00

Level 7 – Enlightenment (4x Spicy)
+$1.60

I had the level 6 “Peace” level of spicy for both of my meals below and that was probably about my limit for enjoyability, it was hot!

Spicy Garlic Pepper

A dish like this has been hiding in the depths of your consciousness. Consider this moment. Choice of protein stir-fried with garlic and pepper.

This was on sale for $11.62, but is usually $16.60 through UberEats.

Of the two dishes I ordered, this was my preferred one. It was very spicy, but also had a great garlicly taste to it and a generous serving of meat.

Spicy Duck Curry with Rice

Be like water. Be the duck.

This is normally $23.90 but I paid about $17 for it.

This had such a mysterious description that I ordered it with no idea what is included. It appeared to be a red curry and had pineapple in it, which added a sweetness I was not expecting. With duck always costing more, I found that the quantity of meat was less than the other meal, despite paying higher for it.

Sweet Chilli Thai?

When looking up Fire Ass Thai on Google Maps, I found that it shares the same address as Sweet Chilli – 1 Queens Rd, Melbourne Vic 3004. I believe they are likely the same business, with different menus to cater to either a traditional or contemporary audience.
