The ability to use this a functional couch as well makes these a great extra bed that you can hide in plain site. But typically anything this great will have its drawbacks.
Apart from costing a lot more than the average couch, their comfortableness in bed mode might also sting you.
Here are some tips to getting a better nights sleep on a sofa bed:
Use a Quilt as extra padding
If you have another spare quilt or doona, put it down as an extra layer of softness. This can make the sofa bed thicker and softer and won’t cost you an extra cent.
Get a mattress topper for it.
This will also add some padding and make the sofa bed more comfortable. You may need to remove this when folding it back up.
Add more pillows
If you have enough pillows, you might be able to make an even layer to pad your bed. It might be uncomfortable in a lumpy way, but st least it will be soft.
Keep it clean
Don’t let people sleep on the mattress without a sheet and keep the mattress itself vacuumed so no crumbs or other lumpy things under you. I
