Hungry Jack’s Carolina Whopper Review

hungry jacks carolina whopper range

The latest special burger at Hungry Jack’s is the Carolina range of Whopper and chicken burgers. When I first heard the name, I thought it might be a super spicy Carolina Reaper burger, but that is not the case. And probably for the best as well, as I tried the Double Carolina Whopper for breakfast today and would not have wanted anything super spicy to eat before work. Since these types of burgers are generally only around for a limited time (such as the Memphis, I’m archiving the official photographs of the variations below, so that someday in the future if anyone is missing this burger, they can reminisce on them virtually.

Carolina Whopper

Double Carolina Whopper

This has extra beef and cheese.

Carolina Jack’s Fried Chicken

instead of beef, this features Jack’s Fried Chicken, which is described as a “Big, thick, crunchy and juicy fried chicken fillet.”

Carolina Grilled Chicken

This time the meat is a “Flame-grilled Aussie chicken breast fillet.”

Hungry Jack’s Double Carolina Whopper Review

I had this for breakfast at the Werribee Hungry Jack’s. I’ve got to say, this was overall pretty good, but I don’t think my burger was made as well as it could have been. When I first opened it, it looked like a regular Double Whopper to me. I had to turn it around to see the extra ingredients which made this burger special.

Once I found the Carolina BBQ sauce was indeed tangy, but I feel like only one side of my burger really had that flavour. The crispy onions were really good too, adding a fun texture to the burger, but again, it felt like it was only on one side of the burger, instead of overloading the burger like the pictures above.

How much does The Hungry Jack’s Carolina Whopper Cost?

The tricky thing with Hungry Jack’s is that different franchises have different prices for some menu items. This is why you don’t see prices advertised much unless it’s on their Penny Pincher menu.

The prices on the app for Werribee Hungry Jack’s are as follows:

  • Carolina Whopper – $10.25
  • Double Carolina Whopper – $14.25
  • Carolina Jack’s Fried Chicken – $12.15
  • Carolina Grilled Chicken – $10.55

Conclusion

Whilst I did enjoy the half of the burger that had flavour, I feel like $14+ for a Hungry Jack’s burger is pretty steep, even if it’s a double. If I’m spending that much I’d rather go somewhere like Flip Stack & Co, which sadly isn’t open for breakfast.
