Ikea Scented Candles are not very good

blueberry, orange and peach, lemon candles at ikea

I never thought I’d be a scented candles kind of guy, but about a year ago I got some big vanilla scented candles from Ikea that were on clearance. They were maybe $1 each in a size you’d expect to cost $30-40 if they were another brand.

I went to Ikea today for the Black Friday weekend sale and found several new flavours for only $3-4 each. This included two small lemon and blueberry candles and a larger peach candle. I’m only really really interested in candles that smell like foods, and I guess fruits are foods so I got them.

I don’t think the scent is as strong as a Yankee Candle or any of the bigger brands, but at such a low price I guess it’s worth a gamble. I’m a little concerned about the lack of permanent lid for these. I’ve always found that candles without lids always attract dust and end up looking kinda gross. I’ve also always suspected that they lose their scent if they don’t have a lid.

I was correct, these candles have no scent whilst burning, you have to put your nose right up to them to notice the scent. I would not recommend these to anyone unless you are looking for a brightly coloured candle to functionally provide light. For a scented candle, these are cheap for a reason.

These flavours were also available as boxes of tealights for $4 for a set.
