The default configuration includes 8 pieces of Original Recipe KFC chicken, 6 nuggets, 2 dipping sauces, and four sides, which are typically two large chips and two large potato and gravy. It is possible to customise this however to suit your tastes.

Each piece of Original Recipe Chicken can be swapped out to pieces of other chicken at the following prices per item:
- 1 Piece Original Fillet +$1.35
- 1 Piece Zinger Fillet +$1.35
- 1 Piece Original Tender +$0.50
This is for a maximum of 8 pieces.

Other than the default Large Chips and Large Potato & Gravy you can get the following items instead:

This is for a maximum of 4 pieces. All items cost the same. Be aware that 1 Large Potato & Gravy is worth the same as 1 Regular gravy, so we always choose the Large Potato and Gravy over this, but if you’re on a low-carb diet then maybe you’ll prefer the Regular Gravy only.

How much does the KFC Cheap As Chips Meal Cost in 2023? Well, most fast-food franchises in Australia will charge marginally different prices for many menu items depending on various factors, so national pricing isn’t always consistent. I’ve seen articles from 2022 from other bloggers saying it costs $21.95 for this meal, but my local Wyndham Vale restaurant has the price here in March 2023 at $25.95 instead. We noticed if we changed our option from delivery to pickup the price went back to $21.95. I guess prices actually vary on delivery and pickup prices as well as store-to-store. This is before any upgrades to the meal too.

My partner Kayla doesn’t really like meat on the bone, so she upgraded each of the Original Recipe KFC Chicken. We paid $4 extra to upgrade all of the chicken pieces to tenders at 50 cents each, but quite typically for Wyndham Vale KFC, this request was totally ignored and we paid an extra $4 for nothing.
We double-checked the receipt and yep, they screwed it up.
Also, interesting that Kayla ordered extra salt on our chips given we’re sharing these with our son.
