We’ve now received the results of our Harmony baby gender DNA test and are quite happy to announce that it’s a boy. I was hoping for a boy as I’ve saved so much of my childhood toys that I’d love to be able to share them with my child.
This doesn’t mean a girl wouldn’t be able to enjoy my things, but this will be an easier bet. Chances are he’ll dislike all my old stuff and only want to play Fortnite like other kids today. Oh well.
We’ve already announced the pregnancy last week on my partner’s birthday, so this is our version of a “gender reveal”. I don’t like making a big deal over the gender of the child, but did want to let everyone know in a creative way. Even if we weren’t in Covid-19 lockdown, I’d still not throw a gender reveal party.
So here’s my big 12 inch Mattel He-Man figure holding a smaller vintage He-Man figure and a Duplo baby bottle in front of vintage Castle Grayskull and Snake Mountain playsets.
I’m publishing this to help other Masters of the Universe fans get ideas for their own Facebook baby announcement. If you don’t have the giant 12-inch He-Man, you could replicate this idea on a smaller scale using one of the Masters of the Universe Classics He-Man figures by Mattel and Super7 or the Vintage Mattel, Super7 Filmation or new Mattel Masters of the Universe Origins figure. For the smaller He-Man, you could use a figure such as one of the Loyal Subjects, Super7 ReAction figures, Mega Construx or maybe a Funk Pop Vinyl.
You could also do this with any number of other characters who have had a wide release, such as Skeletor or Man-At-Arms. This again only really works if you’re having a boy. If you are having a girl, I suggest using a combination of Man-At-Arms and Teela figures. This will make your announcement canonically accurate!
If your partner wants to have a figure represent them as well, Teela is the best partner for He-Man, not She-Ra as that is his sister! You can’t do that!
