If you often order a McDonald’s McValue box, or other similar packages like we do when we need a full family meal quickly, the McValue Box is our go-to. Today I upgraded one of the large burgers to a McSpicy Deluxe rather than the regular Big Mac, Quarter Pounder or McChicken. Those are the regular options for this, but you can pay a bit extra to upgrade any option.
McSpicy Deluxe at McDonald’s
The first thing I noticed about this burger is that the chicken patty is a new and different type to the regular McChicken. You can tell that the patty is a higher quality and has a different, spicy flavour to it just by looking at it. The bun itself is the same as from a Quarter Pounder. In fact, here’s the description of ingredients from Uber Eats:
- Quarter Pounder Bun
- McChicken Sauce
- Aussie Jack Cheese
- Diced Lettuce Mix
- Sliced Tomato
- Spicy Thigh Patty
The lettuce on this burger was proper pieces rather than the usual Diced Lettuce Mix that is on a Big Mac burger. I’m thinking that “Diced Lettuce Mix” might be a remnant of when we had the lettuce shortage a while back and fast food restaurants were mixing their lettuce with cabbage.
The Spicy Thigh Patty was slightly spicy and was real chicken rather than a giant processed chicken nugget like their regular chicken burgers such as the McChicken. There is a mild chilli flavour in the crispy breading.
The Aussie Jack Cheese is also a fancier change from the classic yellow cheese the classic burgers all use. I’m surprised it uses McChicken sauce since this is a spicy burger and that sauce is not spicy. It does make the McSpicy Deluxe seem like big upgrade over the regular McChicken.
McSpicy Deluxe Price
How much does the McSpicy Deluxe cost? Well, most McDonald’s menu items vary slightly from store to store, but the McSpicy Deluxe costs $10.10 at some stores and may be a little higher at others.
