Myers Creek Cascades Luxury Cottages Review

This article was originally from my other blog in 2017.

I recently went away with my girlfriend to the Yarra Valley for a romantic weekend away as a sort of birthday / work-related celebration for each of us. Though it’s only an hour or two away from our homes, we chose to splash out on some fancy accommodation rather than travel interstate and stay somewhere cheaper.

We found Myers Creek Cascades Luxury Cottages B&B and they had an available booking for the Dreamwood cottage for the weekend we wanted, so we made our booking based on that being the only one available. They actually have 4 self-contained cottages, the others are the Ferns, Silverbrook and Treetops. I assume they are all quite similar, but we chose the Dreamwood solely on availability and it was lovely.

There were many subtle details that I really appreciated. I’ll start with the kitchen.

The kitchen had everything we needed. All kinds of glassware including wine glasses (we broke one). Everything needed for cooking pasta including a strainer which we made good use of. There was also free complimentary edibles. There was a fresh loaf of homemade(?) bread that was possibly the best bread I’ve ever had. There was a selection of various teas, both fresh and instant coffee, many oranges (which we probably should have used but didn’t), yo-yo biscuits (which were really good), a few chocolates, 2 bottles of water in the fridge, fresh milk, mini cereal boxes and little condiment packets. They had everything you might expect and more. There was also a dishwasher which was handy as we could wash up after ourselves easily.Myers Creek Cascades Luxury Cottages loungeThe lounge area had a great wood fire unit with those white fire starter blocks, long redhead matches and a big pile of wood. There was a TV, a DVD player and some kind of music player. There was a collection of Michael Buble CD’s (multiple CD’s by the same guy) and a few others by some other people that older people like. The coffee table had drawers full of old guest books by past guests and a few board games (Scrabble and chess etc). There was also a nice couch and whatnot.

The bedroom area had a massive king-size bed with a really good electric blanket with feature window behind it.

To one side was the indoor spa which was great and right next to the bed. The view from these was also amazing. Though even though it was secluded we kinda closed the curtains at night because it was a bit creepy at night.

The bathroom had a giant two-person shower.

It also had double sinks and a heated towel rack.

We had a great time here and arranged to be picked up for a winery tour with a group of tourists from Melbourne. It was great and a lovely weekend getaway. It would be suitable for honeymoons in particular. We would gladly return!
