Patee Thai Restaurant Chapel Street Review

Patee-Thai

One of my good friends lives right near Chapel Street, and I asked him to take me somewhere I hadn’t been before. He suggested the Patee Thai Restaurant. He goes here with his girlfriend regularly and said it’s one of his favourite places in the area.

The decor inside was quite nice. There is a section upstairs where you sit down on the floor to eat on those really low tables Asian restaurants sometimes have. We sat on the first floor at a normal table and chairs.

I took a really long time to decide what to order. There were a few particular things that sounded quite good.

What did we order?

Entrees at Patee Thai Restaurant

He got 4 Vegetarian Spring rolls for $6.90. I’m assuming he’s had these a few times before. He doesn’t eat much meat anymore and vegetarian spring rolls are usually pretty good. I didn’t ask him how it was because I’m a really rude guy, but I’m assuming they were good. He’s the expert on this place, not me.

My entree was 4 Chicken Satay sticks for $7.90.

How were the Satay Chicken sticks? Quite good thanks for asking. I recall saying something like “I could probably eat these all day”.

Man, I love chicken skewers. I was a little concerned that they seemed a bit small taking up less than half of the skewer (picture is cropped a bit) but these were much nicer than a lot of the bigger ones I’ve had in the past. No gristle either, which is good. I don’t like gristle. Does anyone like gristle? I hope not.

Main courses at Patee Thai Restaurant

My friend ordered the Vegetarian Pad Thai for $13.90. Assuming he’s had this before. It looks pretty good, right? Again, I can’t really say much about this because I didn’t even ask how it was. I was too distracted by how great my meal was.

I got and Grilled Marinated Chicken with Turmeric and Coriander Roots for $15.90.

How was the Grilled Marinated Chicken? To be honest I didn’t even know what to expect this to taste like really. But as soon as it arrived, I knew I’d made the right choice. I don’t think this photo really does it justice. It looked way better in person. Like, you should have been there, it was great. It was probably even more enjoyable than the satay skewers. I could easily also eat this all day. Though it was a reasonable amount of food, I didn’t want it to end.

If I ever come back (I hope I do) I’m probably going to get this meal again.
