Today is payday and I’ve managed my finances well enough this month to treat myself to Uber Eats for breakfast at work. Today when looking for somewhere new to try, I saw that Slice Girls West is open early in the mornings, it’s not often that I get pizza for breakfast that isn’t leftovers. So Jack and I ordered it.
The fact that the restaurant has a fun “Spice Girls” theme to its business name, as well as most of its flavours, did make browsing the menu a fun experience. This includes Baby Slice Pizza, Zig A Zig Ah, Posh Slice Pizza, Scary Slice Pizza and a few others. Though, it did force us to click into quite a few of the pizzas to see what they are, as we couldn’t really tell if they’d be the kinds we would want. It is also confusingly didn’t have a flavour for Ginger Spice or Sporty Spice and some of the other flavours don’t seem to have a strong connection to the Spice Girls at all.
The food actually took quite a long time to arrive and was cold when it got here. We later realised it came all the way from Footscray, so I guess that’d be why. I ate mine cold, but Jack had to heat his up. The pizzas were also perhaps a little smaller than we had hoped but are enough to fill us up. We often try and order something that will allow for leftovers.
Hot Diggity Dog Pizza
I ordered Hot Diggity Dog Pizza because it seemed like an unusual combination of flavours that I don’t often have. I’m not even sure if I’ve had a pizza with mustard on it before. So basically this pizza is clearly hotdog inspired and definitely tastes a bit like eating a spicy gourmet hotdog, where the pizza base does seem to taste a bit like a hotdog bun, with the spring onion being a natural hotdog ingredient and of course the mustard and cheese as well. I’m not into ketchup, so the barbeque sauce is a good fit for me here. The pineapple seems like an odd choice, but it doesn’t seem to negatively impact the flavour in any way. My only real negative thing I can say about this is that some of the dough was a little burnt on one side of the pizza, but overall it was quite good!
Viva Forever Pizza
I ordered the Viva Forever pizza which is a simple pizza with only mozzarella cheese, cherry tomatoes, napoli, and basil. Upon first glance, I thought the pizza was very small which was surprising considering the cost of $20.50. However, my criticisms were quickly squashed once I took my first bite. I was pleasantly surprised to find out the pizza was of high quality, a beautiful tomato and mozzarella cheese taste flooded my palette. A fantastic pizza, I’m very interested in what type of mozzarella cheese they used as it tastes delectable.
