Why larger kitchen tables are better

The kitchen table is a central hub of activity in your home. When it comes to buying one or upgrading one, think big.

The kitchen table should take up as much space as you can comfortably fit in your kitchen area and should have more seats available than equal to the number of residents.

Family meals

This is the most typical use of a kitchen table. But if you are a young couple or family, ensure you have more spots available for any future kids you might have.

Christmas dinner

If you ever host a Christmas dinner or any other event with your extended family, you will want as much extra seating available as possible. Whilst it is possible to use fold up chairs and tables, older family members will want to sit at the proper table.

Games nights

The last 10 years has shown a resurgence in board games and card game nights. There are many great party card games that fit 6-10 players. Having a big table in order to cater to so many players makes hosting game night a breeze.

Working from home

If you ever get to work from home with your work laptop but already have a computer in your study and can’t easily set up another, a big kitchen table can come in handy. You can set up your work station here and your family can still eat around it.

Projects and activities

If you are ever doing any arts and crafts and home, you can do it at the table and the family can still eat around it. Just be sure to put down some protective coverings so you don’t get glue or paint on it.

Beer pong

If you have a house party and want to play the popular beer pong drinking game, an 8 person table is an acceptable size for playing this game.

Are there hidden costs? When purchasing a home, some government fees and charges are unavoidable, such as stamp duty. Fortunately building a new home means these costs are substantially reduced. When building a new house, only the land component of the sale attracts stamp duty. This can mean real savings of up to $10,000! At Wisdom Homes we are committed to transparency in every aspect of the build process. Once your selections have been finalised we will be able to provide you with an accurate costing of your home. How much deposit will I need to put down? If building on your land, a deposit is made once all your selections for design, inclusions and upgrades have been finalised. At this stage a fixed price siting and tender for the construction of your new home can commence. It is at this time that an initial deposit of $1,500 Vacant Site or $2,500 for a Knock Down Rebuild, will be made so we can proceed with soil testing, contour surveying and site inspections. Don’t worry, we take care of everything including the paperwork! Are there any government grants or concessions for new home buyers? Government grants and concessions can make new homes particularly attractive to first home buyers. A First Home Buyer Assistance calculator can be accessed here, to assist with identifying both eligibility for the grant and expected concessions. How long will the home build take from start to finish? While some factors such as council applications and the weather will have an effect on the length of the build, buyers can expect the process to span around twelve months. Can I change things? At Wisdom Homes, we have an extensive range of new home designs, however we appreciate that every family is different. What suits one, may not suit another. For this reason we can custom and tailor our floor plans to adapt to our buyers tastes and lifestyle requirements. Delays and additional costs can be avoided by finalising selections prior to signing contracts.
