My closest 7-Eleven is at Alfred Road in Werribee and last night after dinner I had to go grab something for my partner. I was very confused to see that the layout inside had totally changed and they now had a deli. A deli in a 7-Eleven store, in Australia. It was so weird. I took a photo and showed my family and decided to come the next day when I’m hungry to try it out.
Johnny’s Deli at 7-Eleven
This new concept is being trialled at several stores around Melbourne and includes eight flavours such as the Schnitty, Tuna Melt and Reuben with innovations such as Mac n’ Cheese and Meatball and the vegetarian-friendly Falafel.
They each cost $9-11 each and have a meal deal with a side and drink for $15.
Each item can be cooked hot in about 90 seconds, and it’s worth the wait.
How To Order
To save time if the store is busy, you can order on your My 7-11 App by scanning a barcode on one of the computer kiosks.
Here are the sides and meal deals.
Here are the sandwiches and burgers. If you don’t want to use the app to scan anything, you can also just order at the counter like anything else.
The food is then prepared and cooked very quickly behind the counter. The ones that are ready-made in the shop display window are just display items.
It is then served in a fancy paper bag with some serviettes and you can get some free sauces as well if you want.
I got the Beef Reuben and it was very warm and I was very pleased with it. This is definitely the best meal I’ve had from a service station. It is also the first time I’ve gone out of my way to get food from one.
