I’ve been meaning to write an article like this for years, but I’m not sure why I never completed it. I guess actually trying every local pizza place within a short enough time frame to have a comparable memory of each is an expensive exercise that I really can’t afford right now. But I have eaten at just about every pizza place around Werribee a few times over the years and whilst the quality at any given restaurant can go up and down over the years I certainly have my favourites. I’ll talk about those, then also include a list of each of the highest rated by general popular consensus.
My taste in pizza would also factor in here, I typically go for spicy pizzas or ones with a garlic base rather than a tomato base. I don’t like fish or seafood so most pizzas I go for will have bacon, ham, pepperoni etc. This taste in flavours available would factor heavily into which pizza places I like. I also find that some pizzas, I’m not sure if it’s the dough or the toppings make me incredibly thirsty during the night after eating it. These places all lose points for me, even if their food is initially delicious.
My Personal Favourite Pizza Places around Werribee
- Uncle Leo’s Pizzeria
- Sottiles
- Big Brothers
I thought I’d have more to add here, but those are really the ones I go to the most.
The Best-Rated Pizza Restaurants in Werribee
There is an unfortunate fallacy here, in that in many cases, the older or more expensive or authentic restaurants tend to have lower review scores, whilst the newer ones seem to have been seen more favourably. Traditionally, you’re more likely to receive a negative review after a poor experience, whilst positive and neutral experiences tend not to result in the emotional response of writing a review. The sheer volume of reviews on a few of these seems unusual too, so I hope no one has been cheating with fake reviews. I’m linking straight to the review page for every location so that you can easily add a nice review for your favourites if you think they’re being misrepresented.
So with that in mind, don’t take this list as gospel, but hopefully, you will be inspired to check out a different Werribee pizza restaurant and find yourself a new favourite. I know I’ve definitely found a few I need to try.
PS. Where multiple restaurants have the same scores, I’ve sorted them alphabetically so as not to be biased.
Hoppers Pizza and Pasta
Alexandra Square, 4/1-3 Alexandra Dr, Hoppers Crossing VIC 3029
I’ve never actually eaten here before, so I’m surprised to have not yet eaten at either of the tied-for-first-place restaurants in this list. the photo above definitely looks appetising and I’ll have to make it over to Hoppers Crossing to try it.
Tocca
33 Watton St, Werribee VIC 3030
I had heard a lot of good things about Tocca, which I didn’t even know existed until a week or two ago. It isn’t available on Uber Eats often, seemly only on Sundays so I had to go and pick this up. They had a great takeaway deal of 3 pizzas for $49 plus a box of Zeppole (mini doughnuts), which was $1 more than buying 2 pizzas alone. This deal is available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday only at the time of publishing this.
50 Honour Ave, Wyndham Vale VIC 3024
This is part of the “Castle Shops”, arguably the most iconic landmark in Wyndham Vale. This place has been around for such a long time, it is the local for much of Wyndham Vale. I’m surprised that there were so few photos of their food online. I think this is mostly loved for its convenience and pricing rather than being particularly gourmet.
Brothers on K
1 K Rd, Werribee South VIC 3030
Born from the ashes of Di Caprio Family Restaurant which closed down to make way for the new 7-11, Taco Bell and other restaurants on Heaths Road, Brothers on K is one of the two pizza restaurants in Werribee South. I haven’t been there yet, but know it’s going to be good as Di Caprio was pretty good and I’m sure they’ve kept a similar, if not higher standard.
Pizza Lounge & Curry Cafe
70 Warringa Cres, Hoppers Crossing VIC 3029
I’ve never heard of this before, but apparently, they’re open until 4 AM every night of the week, meaning this is great after a night out or late-night gaming session. This restaurant offers a wide range of food making it effectively a pizza restaurant, fish and chip shop and Indian restaurant in one. There are definitely Indian-inspired flavours available here.
Terry Bakery
2/70 Watton St, Werribee VIC 3030
Unlike most of the restaurants on this list, this is a daytime restaurant, closing at 4 PM. This explains why I’ve never heard of this before, as I work in South Melbourne most of the time. This place looks like a great place for those who want Lebanese-style pizza for lunch.
3030 Boulevard
50 Quay Blvd, Werribee South VIC 3030
Located in the new Wyndham Harbour, 3030 Boulevard is perfect for families visiting Werribee South. There’s also burgers, seafood and cocktails available, but don’t expect a big night out here as it tends to close at 8.30 PM.
Crust Pizza Werribee
Shop 1/1/13 Watton St, Werribee VIC 3030
This chain has a lot more prestige than your typical Pizza Hut or Domino’s. Similarly, they often have good coupons and deals. I’ve never been disappointed here.
Fresh Dough Pizza & Kebab Werribee
113 Rosella Ave, Werribee VIC 3030
I’ve ordered twice from Fresh Dough Pizza & Kebab Werribee. Being a place that has both pizza and kebabs on the menu, both orders were kebab-themed pizzas, the first was the Chicken Snack Pack Pizza (like an HSP), and the other was the Mix Kebab Pizza. Both were good, but I’d recommend the latter if you’re ordering something big as the chips on the HSP pizza won’t be good reheated.
PIZZATUDE
4 Sharp St, Hoppers Crossing VIC 3029
This location has had a lot of owner and name changes of the years according to locals, including Blaze Pizza, Franky’s Pizza, Da Franky’s and now PIZZATUDE. Apparently, it’s pretty good.
Teddy Picker
5/116 Watton St, Werribee VIC 3030
Teddy Picker looks amazing. For some reason, this restaurant only seems to be available on Uber Eats on Sundays, perhaps that’s a slow day for them, as they are definitely open on more than just Sundays.
Pizza Tabrabane – Tarneit
1/652 Tarneit Rd, Tarneit VIC 3029
This has come highly recommended by a friend on Facebook, but it is a bit far away for me. Maybe I’ll get it one day when I’m in Tarneit visiting friends. The Sheer volume of reviews here is impressive.
Big Brother’s Pizza Werribee
34B Synnot St, Werribee VIC 3030
Back when I lived closer to this place, it was definitely our go-to for low-price pizza. As mentioned, I love the combination of spicy and garlic and Big Brother’s Pizza Werribee is actually where that all started. Their Macedonian Pizza, pictured above (Napoli sauce, ham, hot salami, capsicum, jalapenos, garlic and chilli flakes) changed my preference as a teenager from a basic meat-lovers to something more interesting. I had this again recently and it’s still about as good as it’s always been.
Pizza Kings Tarneit
540 Tarneit Rd, Tarneit VIC 3029
I’m surprised to see that this has a slightly higher score than the original Manor Lakes restaurant, perhaps the benefit of being newer. The Pizza Kings restaurants are known for their variety and value for money.
Smokin Joe’s Pizza & Grill – Werribee
47 Watton St, Werribee VIC 3030
This is a chain restaurant and I’ve ordered it twice before. Whilst I enjoyed it at the time, it must have had a ridiculous salt content as I was incredibly thirsty after it both times. Was still good, but not worth the discomfort for me.
Uncle Leo’s Pizzeria
62 Watton St, Werribee VIC 3030
As far as the old-school, family-owned restaurants in Werribee (Uncle Leo’s, Werribee Italia Pizza and Restaurant and Age’s Pizza), this one is my favourite. From memory, all 3 offer Giant size pizzas and are all similarly priced, but for me, this has the best variety of flavours and sizes. It also has high-quality ingredients and doesn’t make me desperately thirsty at night afterwards.
Vincent’s Pizza & Pasta
60 Vincent Cres, Werribee VIC 3030
Mathews Pizza Inn & Burger
5 Old Geelong Rd, Hoppers Crossing VIC 3029
This was a favourite of my family’s in the 90s and by that point, ownership had already changed hands a few times and it’s changed a few times since I believe. I remember it as having lots of shredded ham under the toppings, but I ordered the pizza on the right above to check and whilst it was still a nice pizza, it’s nothing like how they used to do them. I must say the menu has definitely expanded a lot since the 90s.
Pizza Kings Wyndham Vale
17/451-455 Ballan Rd, Wyndham Vale VIC 3024
Pizza Kings Wyndham Vale has been a popular choice for a lot of my friends for a decade or more. I even know people who drive 40 minutes away from Bacchus Marsh just to order here. My friend Ash used to organise groups at his house where we’d all order chicken parmas with pizza toppings on them from this place. I don’t think that’s an official menu item, but they made them for us.
Pizzeria Divina – Werribee
12 Thoroughbred Ave, Werribee VIC 3030
I’ve never eaten here and I’ve only just found out about it when researching this article. It is a wood-fired pizza restaurant, a rarity around here. This might be good to try for anyone who misses Accetta’s which closed down a few years ago.
Pronto Pizza & Spaghetti Bar
11 Woodville Park Dr, Hoppers Crossing VIC 3029
I don’t know much about this place, but would be happy to try it.
Sottile’s Pizza Werribee
12 Quarbing St, Werribee VIC 3030
This is one of my favourite Werribee pizza restaurants to order from Uber Eats. They never seem to have special deals going on the app, so I guess they get by without any gimmicks. My favourite pizza flavours from Sottile’s include Gourmet Cheese Lovers Pizza, Gourmet BBQ Pizza, Garlic Pizza and the Gourmet Nunz Special Pizza.
Elio Italian Family Bistro
39 Old Geelong Rd, Hoppers Crossing VIC 3029
Locals simply call this restaurant “Elio’s” and it has been years since I’ve eaten here. I think I’ve only been there once with friends because they knew someone who worked there and wanted to support the business. I believe this restaurant has been around for many years.
Victoria’s Pizza ‘N’ Beyond
2/54 Synnot St, Werribee VIC 3030
I’ve heard very good things about Victoria’s. I’ve considered ordering it quite a few times, but they do their own delivery which costs $8 on Uber Eats rather than the potential free delivery for Uber Plus members, so I always skip over it. I might have to phone up and pick it up myself one day.
Ages Ristorante Pizzeria
102 Watton St, Werribee VIC 3030
One of the classic Werribee pizza restaurants, having been around for decades, this is definitely a favourite for long-term locals, despite the tough review score. Age’s is best known for its Ferrari-themed decor. It moved a few doors down to new premises a few years ago. It is great for its big range of sizes, including giant-size pizzas. The prices are on the higher end, but the quality justifies it. I find the quality pretty similar to Uncle Leo’s.
Mad Pizza
88 Derrimut Rd, Hoppers Crossing VIC 3029
This is quite a cheap place to order pizza from. I’ve ordered here 6 times before on Ubereats and I think it’s good for a cheap pizza place. The naming of products is a bit confusing.\
Werribee Italia Pizza & Restaurant
19A Watton St, Werribee VIC 3030
Another long-running restaurant offering giant-size pizzas. The main thing that differentiates this from Ages and Uncle Leo’s is that the cheese tends to be below the toppings, rather than on top. It’s quite good but I find that a lot of the toppings fall off too easily.
La Porchetta
Shop RE01 Heaths Rd, Werribee VIC 3030 (Pacific Werribee)
Another longtime staple of the Werribee and Hoppers Crossing pizza scene, La Porchetta at Pacific Werribee (Werribee Plaza)
Westside Pizza Boys
1/86 Cottrell St, Werribee VIC 3030
Big Nick’s Pizza & Kebab
Shop 4/210 Ballan Rd, Wyndham Vale VIC 3024
I’m surprised to see how low this one is ranking, I used to order the kebab pizza here many years ago, but stopped when they stopped using proper kebab meat and swapped it to diced lamb. It looks like they’ve started doing kebabs again, so maybe I’ll have to give them another shot, as kebab pizzas are amazing.
Pizza Hut Werribee
9 Station Pl, Werribee VIC 3030
I’ve always enjoyed the Pizza Hut style of Pizza. It’s different to the more traditional ones, but I’ve never had a Pizza Hut pizza that was terrible. I still enjoy Stuffed Crust Pepperoni Lovers with added garlic and chilli flakes every now and then when they have a good promotion on, such as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles one shown above in 2021.
Domino’s Pizza Werribee
5/57-61 Synnot St, Werribee VIC 3030
We’ve ordered from Domino’s many times in the past, usually when they have something interesting going on like the Vegemite Domino’s pizza above. I’ve always been pretty happy with the food from there, just a lot of people tend to enjoy hating on Domino’s as it used to be quite bad when it first came to Australia. We only ever order Domino’s if there’s a good deal on, it’s not worth paying full price for.
Jessies Pizza Hoppers Crossing
2-6 Deloraine Dr, Hoppers Crossing VIC 3029
This restaurant has been around for a long time. Many of its reviews are quite scathing, with many people complaining about soggy pizza, poor hygiene of the staff, cleanliness of the restaurant, mouldy garlic bread, and terrible service. I hope they pick up their game.
Conclusion
I can’t believe how many pizza options we have around here. As someone who has mostly been ordering from Uber Eats only, this has been an eye opener for places to go and pick up from by myself. If you disagree with any of these rankings, go and add your own Google Review for your favourite restaurants and maybe one day I’ll update these rankings.
I will try it!
